Did you know?
Damask was named after the city of Damascus. The fabric was first encountered by Marco Polo on the Silk Route and introduced to Europe on his return to Venice in 1295.
The name Damask describes a woven fabric in which the pattern - usually a large-scale formal design featuring highly stylised floral motifs - is formed by the contrast of shiny and matt weft woven areas, and the effect of the light on it.

Tip of the Month

Today's modern Black & White Damask is one of the most striking color combinations of all Damask patterns and can offer a chic contemporary look to any decor. When using a Black & White Damask pattern, try pairing with hot pink or bright yellow for high style and impact, or if you are aiming for a softer romantic look try pairing with dusty pink or a light plum.

Candy Buffet Tables are a Favorite for 2010!

 candy buffet
In addition to your candy jars and candy selections, you will want to decorate
the table. Consider including:

  • Flowers & flower petals
  • Candles
  • Decor that coordinates with your theme
  • Photographs in decorative frames
  • Tablecloths, overlays, table runners, or sashes

One of the easiest ways to add dimension and style to your candy
buffet table is to put your candy jars at different levels. Raise the
containers to different heights by putting books or other supporting
materials under the tablecloth or overlay. Also, gathering or bunching
up another tablecloth, overlay or runner will add additional interest to
your table design and decor. FYI-Ikea Tampa is a great, inexpensive
place to find various size glass containers.

    Signature Cocktail of the Month

     Pomegranate-Apple Cocktail

    pomegrantite apple cocktail

    Ingredients:
    • 3 cup(s) pomegranate juice
    • 1 1/2 cup(s) apple cider
    • 1/4 cup(s) sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon(s) allspice berries
    • 4 stick(s) (3 inches each) cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon(s) whole black peppercorns
    • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
    • 16 kumquats, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
    • 1/2 cup(s) apple brandy (optional)

    Directions:
Combine all ingredients except half of the kumquats and the brandy in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in brandy, if desired. For hot pomegranate-apple cider, reheat the spiced pomegranate mixture and divide among four mugs. Add remaining kumquat slices. Serve hot. For pomegranate-champagne cocktails, divide 1/2 cup of the cooled spiced pomegranate mixture between four champagne flutes. Add 4 ounces of chilled champagne to each glass and serve immediately.
